The initial Pro Bowl rosters have been released. Two members of the Jets earned a selection. They are defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner. Both were named starters.
It is the second career Pro Bowl selection for both players who also made it last year.
A number of other Jets were named alternates.
Quincy Williams did NOT make the Pro Bowl. He is a fifth alternate. Makes no sense to me.— Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) January 4, 2024
Greg Zuerlein and Thomas Morstead are first alternates. CJ Mosley is a third alternate. Breece Hall and Jermaine Johnson are also fifth alternates. #Jets
Most of these players would have been worthy choices but were likely hurt by the team’s lack of success. Bad teams tend to not place as many players into the Pro Bowl as good teams.
The alternates may still have an opportunity to gain Pro Bowl recognition. Prior to the Pro Bowl Games, there will likely be players who drop out. Since the competition takes place the week before the Super Bowl, players from those teams do not participate. Other players will also likely drop out due to injury while other still might just opt out.
The Pro Bowl Games adopted a new format around a skills competition and flag football game last year.
