The New York Jets are not playing this weekend. Bad teams don’t generally play in the NFL playoffs. But there is plenty of NFL action to go around as the post-season kicks off today on Wild Card Weekend.
The weather is going to be a problem in places like Kansas City and Buffalo this weekend, and that has the potential to contribute to some upsets. However, I’m only picking one upset this weekend, as I see the collapsing Philadelphia Eagles suffering an ignominious one and done post-season to complete their meltdown following a 10-1 start to the season.
I don’t love the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in this game so much as I hate the Eagles. The Eagles’ defense has collapsed. Their offense has collapsed. They’ve lost five of their last six games, including a blowout loss to the lowly New York Giants to close the season. This team is just a mess right now. Throw in that this is a road game, where the Eagles are just 5-4 on the season. They haven’t won on the road since November 20, and they’ve dropped four of their last six road games. The Buccaneers are no juggernauts, but they come into this game hot, winners of five of their last six games. I’m taking the Buccaneers at home to upset an Eagles team that just looks lost right now.
I’ll be predicting the outcome of all of the games throughout the post-season, just as I’ve done each week of the regular season all year. Last week I went 9-7. That brought my total record to 154-113 for the NFL regular season. Let’s see how I do in the post-season.
Embedded below are my picks for all the Wild Card Weekend matchups this week. These picks are just a simple who wins the game deal. Odds do not factor in. DISCLAIMER: This is just for fun. I make no claims to actually being any good at this. Anyone who chooses to bet according to my picks will likely prove the old maxim, a fool and his money are soon parted.
