Sauce Gardner and Quincy Williams named to AP’s All Pro First Team

The duo had a great season.

The Associated Press has announced its All Pro Teams. Two Jets defenders were named to the First Team. They are cornerback Sauce Gardner and linebacker Quincy Williams.

Gardner is now two for two in earning First Team All Pro honors. The second year cornerback showed so signs of a sophomore slump after a stellar debut season.

Williams’ All Pro season is one of the least expected developments of the year. After a couple of solid but unspectacular seasons, the Jets re-signed Williams to a modest contract in 2023 and saw his play markedly improve. Many expected his brother, Quinnen, to end up earning an All Pro nod. I’m not sure many saw this coming from Quincy. Congratulations to him. Quincy Williams might have been the most improved player in the league.

The Jets had a few other players who deserved consideration but fell short. Quinnen was one. CJ Mosley was another. Quinnen Williams was First Team All Pro last season. Mosley made the Second Team. The Jets’ overall struggles might have weighed on voters.
