The New York Jets are at home in MetLife Stadium this week as they take on the Houston Texans in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The weather conditions promise to be miserable for players and fans alike, with flood warnings issued and gusty winds predicted. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jets are 3.5 point home underdogs against the Texans. That spread seems fair. The 7-5 Falcons are a better team than the Jets, but football is a game about matchups, and the matchups here are fairly favorable for the Jets. The Jets defense has been poor against the run, but the Texans can’t run the ball. C.J. Stroud has been brilliant passing the ball, but he struggled badly against the Saints #7 ranked pass defense and against the Panthers #4 ranked pass defense. The Jets #3 ranked pass defense is better than either of those teams, and the Texans are missing their #2 and #3 targets for this game. With terrible weather conditions forecast, this game seems set up for the Jets defense to have a big game against C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense.
Unfortunately, the Jets offense is so pitiful that a great performance by the defense is no guarantee of victory for the Jets. If the Jets defense can take over the game against C.J. Stroud and force some turnovers then maybe the Jets can stay in this game. Maybe they can even pull off an upset. But the Jets offense has been so horrendous it’s tough to pick the Jets to win any game these days.
There are plenty of other games to watch on Sunday, and I’ll be fearlessly (and probably wrongly) predicting the outcome of all of them. I went 7-6 last week to bring my total record to 113-78 so far this season. Let’s see how I do this week.
Embedded below are my picks for all the Sunday matchups this week. These picks are just a simple who wins the game deal. Odds do not factor in. DISCLAIMER: This is just for fun. I make no claims to actually being any good at this. Anyone who chooses to bet according to my picks will likely prove the old maxim, a fool and his money are soon parted.
