Jets open as 6 point underdogs vs Texans

The New York Jets try to break a 5 game losing streak against the Houston Texans

The New York Jets lost their fifth straight game on Sunday, falling to the Atlanta Falcons, 13 - 8. Starting quarterback Tim Boyle became the latest ineffective Jets quarterback to fall victim to his own inept play. Boyle was benched in favor of Trevor Siemian in the fourth quarter of the game. Siemian managed the rare feat of fumbling three times in the final three minutes of the game, dooming the Jets to another dismal defeat. The Jets defense turned in a stellar effort, only to be sabotaged yet again by an offense that is not even close to NFL standards. The loss brought the Jets record to 4-8. The Jets are just playing out the string at this point.

Now the Jets prepare to face the Houston Texans at home next Sunday.

The 7-5 Texans are surging, led by rookie quarterback sensation C.J. Stroud. The Texans have won four of their last five games and look to be headed towards a surprise playoff berth this season. They boast the league’s 2nd ranked passing attack and 6th ranked offense. It will be a formidable challenge for the Jets defense to bottle up this Texans offense enough to give the Jets’ pathetic offense a chance in this game.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jets open as 6 point home underdogs against the Texans on Sunday. Frankly that seems too generous to the Jets. The Jets haven’t scored more than 13 points in a game since October 15. The Texans have scored 19 or more points in 9 of their last 10 games. This one probably won’t be close. I expect the Jets defense to give the Texans a few problems, but not enough to keep the Jets offense in the game.

The Moneyline odds are New York Jets +215/Houston Texans -265.

The Over/Under for the game is a miniscule 36.5.

What do you think Jets fans? Will the Jets beat the odds in this game?
