Jets open as 2 point underdogs vs Patriots

The New York Jets try to close out another disappointing season with a victory over the New England Patriots

The New York Jets got blown out by the Cleveland Browns, 37 - 20, on the road on Sunday. It was a putrid Jets performance in a fetid Jets season.

The loss dropped the Jets record to 6-10 on the season. Now the Jets prepare for their season finale against the New England Patriots on the road next Sunday. The end to this mess can’t come soon enough.

The 4-12 New England Patriots have suffered through their worst season since 1992. They have already clinched last place in the AFC East. The last time the Patriots finished last was in 2000, Bill Belichick’s first season as head coach of the Patriots. Perhaps it is fitting he will go out the same way he came in.

As bad as the Patriots have been this season, they have been more competitive of late, winning two of their last four games. With nothing left to play for but pride, and with how much Belichick hates the Jets, I suspect he’d love nothing better than for his last game coaching the Patriots to be a win over the Jets, preferably in humiliating fashion. However, unlike most Patriots teams, home has been especially unkind to the Patriots this season. They have an almost unbelievable 1 - 7 record at home this season.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jets open as 2 point road underdogs against the Patriots on Sunday. That’s almost a tossup, and that seems appropriate for these two terrible teams. The Patriots, however, have shown a few more signs of life than the Jets have recently, and they also seem to just own the Jets. This one could get very ugly. I doubt either team covers itself in glory here. In the end I think Belichick and the Patriots will find a way to defeat the Jets for a 16th consecutive time.

The Moneyline odds are New York Jets +110/New England Patriots -130.

The Over/Under for the game is 33.5.

What do you think Jets fans? Will the Jets beat the odds in this game?
