Zach Wilson ruled out for Thursday Night Football against Cleveland Browns

Trevor Siemian is likely to make his second start of the season.

Zach Wilson will not return to the lineup for the New York Jets when they face the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football in Week 17. Head coach Robert Saleh revealed the third year quarterback has not cleared the concussion protocol.

Even if Wilson was cleared, it would be difficult to understand the Jets throwing him out there in a meaningless game for the team. This is a short week with condensed preparation time. It is hardly conducive for a return, particularly given how low the stakes are for the Jets.

This means Trevor Siemian will likely get the start for the Jets. He started in the Week 16 win over the Washington Commanders, although it is debatable how much he actually had to do with the win. Siemian started a primetime game for the Jets against the Browns four years ago. He was 3 for 6 for 3 yards and left with an ankle injury that knocked him out for the season. Obviously he hopes this game will go far better.
