Aaron Rodgers says he isn’t 100 percent healed from Achilles injury

It doesn’t sound like the quarterback is returning this season.

Over the last couple of months, the Jets and Aaron Rodgers have been floating the idea about him returning from the Achilles injury he suffered Week 1 before the end of the 2023 season. It would have been a staggeringly fast recovery from a serious injury.

With the Jets officially eliminated from postseason contention in Week 15, a Rodgers return now seems like a long shot. There is nothing to be gained for the team. Rodgers seemed to confirm as much during his weekly segment on Pat McAfee’s show.

For me it has always been a bit tough to believe that Rodgers would be able to return to action before the end of the season. His comments about it not being realistic to be cleared in a span of 14 weeks suggests he and the Jets both might have been overstating the chances he would see the field again this season.

The deadline for the Jets to either activate Rodgers to the 53 man roster or shut him down for the season comes later this week.
