NFL: Miami Dolphins at New York Jets Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets defense has been dominant this season and the breakout performance of edge rusher Bryce Huff has played a big part in that. Huff has been one of the Jets’ best pass rushers all season with a PFF grade of 83.5 which ranks 10th among edge rushers when pass rushing. And that isn’t due to ease of assignments either as Huff has done it with an average amount of double teams.

Fortunately for Bryce Huff, this breakout could not have come at a better time, as he enters into free agency this spring. Huff has arguably played his way into a franchise tag that was valued at 17.4 million for edge rushers last season. If the Jets don’t tag Huff, they’ll risk losing him to another team, and the question will then become what contract Huff will get and whether the Jets should be the top bidder.

So what might Bryce Huff receive in free agency? Recently, ProFootballFocus estimated that at 3 years, 40 million.

Three years would have Huff on the contract through his age 28 season, which isn’t a concern as that is typically the prime for an NFL player. The only real question there would be the yearly amount of $13.3 million and if that’s reasonable. For context, an AAV of $13.3 million would rank around 20th among edge rushers. For me, that’s pretty reasonable for a top ranked pass rusher, so I’d be excited to bring Huff back at that price.

But what do you think? Is $13.3 million a fair price to pay for Bryce Huff?

Would you bring Bryce Huff back on a contract of 13.3 million?
