The Jets at this point in the season are clinging to enormously unlikely playoff hopes. If they are to have any chance at all at a playoff berth this season, they must have a victory over the Dolphins this afternoon.
The Dolphins come into this game off an ugly loss to the Tennessee Titans last week. They came out of that game with several critical injuries. The offensive line is a mess, with multiple starters expected to miss today’s game. The biggest injury news, however, is Tyreek Hill will miss this game with an ankle injury. The Dolphins certainly have other talented weapons to take on the challenges on offense, but Hill makes this Dolphins offense lethal. Without Tyreek Hill the Dolphins are just another offense, and the Jets defense has an opportunity to make them pay. However, even if the Jets defense shuts down the Dolphins offense, the Jets offense still needs to do its part. They have rarely been up to that challenge this year. If Zach Wilson and the Jets offense can recapture some of the magic of last week’s blowout win over the Houston Texans, the Jets have a good chance at pulling off an upset in Miami. If Wilson and the Jets offense revert to their wayward ways, however, this will probably be a fairly easy Dolphins win.
We’ll find out soon enough which version of the Jets shows up against the Dolphins in a windy Miami Florida today.
