The first half of the New York Jets game against the Miami Dolphins is in the books, and the Jets are trailing the Dolphins, 24 - 0.

The Jets started the game on defense and forced a Dolphins punt. It didn’t take long after that for disaster to strike. After the Jets offense picked up a first down, Zach Wilson was sacked, fumbled the ball, and the Dolphins recovered on the Jets 1 yard line. Three plays later the Dolphins were in the end zone for an early 7 - 0 lead.

On the Jets next possession a fake punt on fourth down failed and the Jets turned the ball over on downs in Jets territory. You got the sense early that this just wasn’t going to be the Jets’ day.

The Dolphins then moved down the field before settling for a field goal and a 10 point lead at the start of the 2nd quarter.

On the ensuing drive the Jets offense did what they do best, going backward. This was getting ugly quickly.

Shortly thereafter Tua Tagovailoa hit Jalen Waddle in stride on a 60 yard bomb for a touchdown and a 17 - 0 Dolphins lead midway through the 2nd quarter. With more than 35 minutes of football to go this game was already all but over.

With a little more than a minute to go in the first half the Dolphins tacked on another touchdown. That set up a full 30 minutes of garbage time in the 2nd half.

The Jets go into the locker room trailing the Dolphins by 24 points.
