What is the implied probability the New York Jets beat the Miami Dolphins?

Can the Jets pull off an upset on the road?

Syndication: Palm Beach Post Jim Rassol / USA TODAY NETWORK

On Sunday, the New York Jets will play in a true “must win” game in the sense that their playoff hopes will potentially zero out in the event that they lose to the Miami Dolphins.

So what are the odds the Jets keep their playoff dreams alive and beat the Dolphins? To answer that question, I will consult our old friend DraftKings Sportsbook. As of Saturday at around noon, the Jets are +360 to beat the Dolphins, which means you can bet $100 to win $360. If we convert that money line to an implied probability, then we find that the Jets have an implied ~22% chance of winning.

22% isn’t meaningless. The Jets have outright won games where they had a less than 22% chance of victory. 22% still means a better than 1 in 5 of chance of winning and 1/5 odds hit all the time. For fans rooting for the playoffs, the Jets need to be the “1” one more time.
