Thursday Night Football, Week 15. Tonight the Las Vegas Raiders host the Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders are 3 point home favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

The 5-8 Los Angeles Chargers come into this game ravaged by injuries. Their star quarterback Justin Herbert is out for the year with a broken finger. He will be replaced in the lineup by career backup Easton Stick. Their top two wide receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, are out with injuries. Their WR3, Joshua Palmer, is returning from the injured reserve list and will be the Chargers’ WR1 for the rest of the season. They have seven other players that have been unable to practice in full this week.

In the face of all this turmoil the Chargers have completely collapsed. Once one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL, the Chargers have scored a total of 23 points over their last three games combined. They have lost four of their last five games, their only win in that stretch coming against the lowly New England Patriots. These are dark times for the Chargers.

The 5-8 Las Vegas Raiders come into this game struggling almost as much as the Chargers. The Raiders were shut out last week by the Minnesota Vikings. They have scored more than 18 points in a game just twice all season. Rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell is struggling so badly that, as of Thursday morning, the Raiders were rumored to be contemplating benching him. The Raiders have lost five of their last seven games. Their only wins in that stretch came against the lowly New York Giants and New York Jets.

This is a game between two teams playing out the string. Both have terrible offenses and are playing backup quarterbacks. Both have failed to notch any recent victories against decent NFL teams. The main difference between these two bad teams is the Chargers have a poor defense and the Raiders have a pretty good defense and the home field advantage. I don’t have much conviction in this pick, but I’ll take the home team and the better defense. I’m taking the Raiders to defeat the Chargers tonight. I have submitted my pick using the widget from our partners at Tallysight. You can follow all my picks throughout the season, as I prove for another season how I’m not made to be a gambler. Seriously, I cannot stress enough how bad an idea it would be to bet real money based on my picks. Don’t do it. Don’t even consider it. Make your own picks, and good luck. And if you do bet, consider using our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook.
