The Jets have announced the activation of safety Jarrick Bernard-Converse to the active roster.

Bernard-Converse was selected in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft out of LSU. He spent training camp on the physically unable to perform list with a foot injury and remained on the list into these start of the regular season. The Jets brought him back to practice three weeks ago. He did not count against the team’s allotment on the 53 man roster, but the Jets faced an upcoming deadline of either adding him to the roster or placing him on season ending injured reserve.

Bernard-Converse fills the roster spot cleared by the trade of Mecole Hardman last week. The Jets had been banged up in the defensive backfield lately, but Bernard-Converse might not be active for game days. If he is, he likely will be a backup and special teamer to start his career.
