New York Jets Flight Connections 08/20/22

NFL: New York Jets at Philadelphia Eagles Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets will face the Atlanta Falcons in two days in the second of three preseason contests. This one will lose some of its luster in the absence of injured Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson. Still, there are jobs at stake as training camp winds down to its final days. In just eight days the Jets will play their final preseason game of the 2022 season, and final cuts will follow shortly thereafter. For players on the roster bubble, there is precious little time left to make a positive impression, so Monday’s game against the Falcons takes on enormous significance in the lives of the bubble guys. For those who don’t make the 53 man roster, 16 practice squad spots are available. For the first time in a long time the Jets actually may be forced to cut legitimate NFL caliber players. It is a mark of how far the Jets have come in terms of roster depth in a relatively short period of time. If some of the young guys manage to develop into Pro Bowl type players, the Jets may soon be a force to be reckoned with after a long, long stretch of futility. Fingers crossed.
