It’s week three of the NFL season and the New York Jets are on the road in Denver, Colorado to face the Denver Broncos.
The Jets look to get their first win of the Robert Saleh era after opening the 2021 season with two consecutive losses. The Jets haven’t won a game in September since opening day of the 2018 season. It would be nice to get that dubious mark over with today in Denver. Whether or not the Jets are able to come out of today’s game with a win, all eyes will be on rookie quarterback Zach Wilson after a terrible four interception performance against the New England Patriots last week. This Broncos defense is tough, especially at home, but Wilson will look to rebound and show he can compete at a high level against a good NFL defense this week.
The Denver Broncos come into the game with a two game winning streak to open the 2021 season. Old friend Teddy Bridgewater is playing as well as he ever has in his career. The Broncos have ridden Bridgewater’s stellar play to an unexpected place atop the tough AFC West division. Now they have to defend their first place position against the lowly Jets. A win at home against the Jets today will have the Broncos nicely positioned for a playoff run, while a loss will raise questions about their contender status.
For Jets fans this game will be all about the quarterback. If Zach Wilson plays well, win or lose most Jets fans will probably be in a better mood this week. If Wilson bombs again, many Jets fans will really start to worry if the Jets have once again failed at picking a quarterback, regardless of whether it’s too early to reach any definitive conclusions.
