Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports Jets quarterback Zach Wilson suffered a groin injury in the first game of the season against the Carolina Panthers.
Wilson, the No. 2 pick in April, suffered a groin injury during the 19-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, according to a source. He played through it Sunday during a 25-6 loss to the New England Patriots, and the injury could potentially require maintenance throughout the season.
As it currently stands, there’s no reason to believe Wilson will miss any games with the groin injury. He got an MRI to ensure there was no further damage.
In the Carolina game the Jets offensive line struggled to protect Wilson as the offensive line consistently lost its matchups.
Despite his four interception game against New England, the Jets can’t afford to lose Wilson for any stretch of time. Backup quarterback Mike White would give the team little chance of winning so it is positive to hear the starter is unlikely to miss game action.
