Today’s podcast recaps yesterday’s loss to New England. The Jets were defeated by the Patriots 25-6 in the home opener and fell to 0-2 in the 2021 season.
The story of the game was Zach Wilson, and it wasn’t a good story. The rookie’s first home game was a disaster. He threw four interceptions and essentially took the Jets out of the game.
It’s important to not overreact to one game, but I don’t think you can underreact either. This performance seemed to go beyond your typical rookie struggles, and Wilson needs to bounce back.
Despite the final margin, there were also a number of positives from this game obscured by Wilson’s struggles. The Jets got a number of excellent performances in the run game and on defense. It might seem like small consolation now, but these are things the team can build upon going forward.
Thanks for listening to the show.
