Jets vs Patriots Game Thread

It’s the home opener for the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL season and the fans are back for a regular season game for the first time since the pandemic started. Things should be rockin’ at MetLife Stadium. And who better to face in the home opener than a less than invincible New England Patriots squad?

The Jets look to get their first win of the Robert Saleh era after opening the 2021 season last weak with a loss to the Carolina Panthers. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson will try to build on his promising debut a week ago by beating the hated Patriots and dispelling the silly myth of the rookie quarterback curse against Bill Belichick.

The Patriots have their own rookie quarterback in Mac Jones and their own week one loss to rebound from. A loss to the Jets today would give Belichick and his hoodies a two game losing streak to start the season and a lovely spot in the cellar in the AFC East. That would be a nice outcome.

No doubt the stories tomorrow will center on the two rookie quarterbacks, and there will be the usual hot takes about which team got the better one, based on a huge sample of one game. Obviously whatever happens in this game will not dictate which quarterback has a better career, but it sure would be nice to get this budding rivalry off on the right foot.

It’s the New York Jets and the New England Patriots in the Jets’ home opener. Please leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
