Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton suffered a knee injury in the second half of yesterday’s loss to the Panthers.
When it happened most of us feared the worst. Becton was carted off the field and appeared to be very emotional as though he had received a very bad initial diagnosis. After the game early tests suggested he might have only suffered an MCL sprain.
Apparently that is not the case according to Ian Rapoport.
#Jets LT Mekhi Becton, who was carted off in serious pain, suffered a knee cap dislocation that popped back into place, sources say. No timeline yet.

The lack of an initial timeframe suggests we shouldn’t be surprised if Becton misses some time. That would be tough for the Jets. The offensive line was the weakest part of the team yesterday even with Becton in there. George Fant would presumably slide over to the left side in Mekhi’s absence. Fant is coming off an ugly Week 1 performance.
On the positive side you don’t see the words “season ending” with this injury the way you would have with something like a torn ACL. We would have a definitive timeframe with that. Getting Becton back at any point this year would be a much better scenario than many of us anticipated yesterday afternoon.
