Why Joe Douglas and the Jets Should Have Had a Better Plan to Sign Zach Wilson

LI_JETS gives reasons to be optimistic about Denzel Mims despite an underwhelming offseason.
Top Comments:
On the thought of trading crowder:
We should be dangling Crowder to the Saints right about now they have zero WRs
-Nanananananana
Why? Did any teams dangle their WRs to the Jets when the Jets WRs sucked?
Here’s an idea: How about the Jets keep the talent on the roster and try to win some games?
-square1
On the Lawson/Becton camp battle:
iron sharpens iron! this is great for both guys.
-AllToons
That’s one of the problems with camp. It’s a zero sum game.
I’m kind of looking forward to the joint practices with the Packers and Eagles for that reason.
-John B
Ok, pads aren’t helping Becton. Maybe a two-by-four will help him slow down Lawson.
-ToiletBowles
On Elijah Moore:
E. Moore is gonna be the real deal, usually I’m very cautious with getting excited about a rookie but I loved this kid before the draft and I think he’s going to be a difference maker from game 1
-jbigs07
On Jets Players who could be All-Pro this year:
Will Mekhi Becton be an All-Pro this season?
Probably not. There are a lot of good OT’s out there, and Becton is still coming into his own in the new scheme. But, assuming health, I think there’s a very good chance he makes the Pro Bowl
-The Great Bambi
A better question , will Moore be an all pro this year? I say yes
-Smiling Tom
On the Cornerback situation:
Corners
We all know this is obviously the weakest unit on the team. Hall is a young player that we hope can develop into a starter, but does anyone think the same can be said for Bless Austin? Does he have any chance to surprise? I almost consider him the key to the defense because I’m fairly confident in the level of play we will get from our safeties (avg.), d line (hopefully elite) and LBs (avg.). I’m also fairly confident Hall will develop into a solid number 2 type corner given his pre-draft scouting report, performance during his rookie season, and that reports from camp have been positive. Haven’t heard much, if anything, about Bless in camp so far. If Bless can play above replacement level, or even become an average corner, than I think we can really be cooking with gas on defense. Can the football gods grant Mac just one? Cmon (I know, this is really stretching it here).
-BringBackChad
On the decision to draft Wilson over staying with Darnold:
I really believe that if the Jets really thought that Darnold could develop into a great qb then they would have elected to keep him. The fact that our coaching staff and the front office huddled up and made the decision to move on from him tells me that either he does not have it or it was not worth keeping him around for more then a year because if he ever does amount to anything it would take longer then that and he was at the end of his contract.
