Jets Roster Cutdown Tracker With News and Live Updates

Today is cutdown day in the NFL. Teams must cut their rosters down to 53 players by 4:00 pm Eastern.

The Jets began their cuts yesterday, most notably Lamar Jackson and Lawrence Cager, undrafted free agent signings from a year ago who saw playing time due to injuries. By the end of the day we will have an initial 53 man roster.

Make no mistake about it. Initial is the operative word. After the cuts are done, waiver claims can be made. If the Jets claim anybody on waivers, they will need to get rid of additional players. Then there will be a second round of waiver claims. The Jets and other teams will likely continue to make changes on the fringe. The roster on cutdown day is rarely identical to the Week 1 roster.

With that said, today is an important part of the process so we will keep our eyes on the cuts that come along.
