On today’s podcast we talk about the events of this weekend for the New York Jets.
The team upgraded its pass rush sending a sixth round pick to Houston for Shaq Lawson. Lawson isn’t the type of player who will transform the defense with his presence. He won’t replicate the production of Carl Lawson in anything other than the last name category. He is, however, a credible starter and a big upgrade over what the Jets had at the edge. He was also acquired at a discount price relative to his ability. I think it’s difficult to dislike this trade if you keep expectations in perspective.
The Jets also finished their preseason with an exciting tie against the Philadelphia Eagles. I think it’s difficult to contextualize what happened given the heavy playing time for backups, but I do my best to offer some observations.
Thanks as always for listening to the show.
