New York Jets Flight Connections 8/14/21

Good morning, Gang Green Nation! After the long, long offseason, tonight the New York Jets square off against the New York Giants in the preseason opener. The annual Snoopy Bowl holds special intrigue for both teams. For the Jets, we finally get a glimpse of our new systems on offense and defense, our boatload of new players, our new coaches and of course our rookie quarterback competing against an NFL squad not named the Jets. And for the Giants we get another opportunity for players to unexpectedly retire.

Zach Wilson is expected to get a couple of series before he gives way to the Great White Hope and Captain Morgan. No doubt the handful of plays Wilson runs will be subject to intense scrutiny. It will be fun to finally see the young quarterback in Green and White competing against another NFL team, but his appearance tonight will have little significance, and will barely be remembered in the long run, whether he lights it up or he gets lit up. For now, just enjoy the ride and the long awaited return of Jets football (or some poor, preseason facsimile thereof).
