Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media the day before training camp practices are scheduled to begin.
He offered some good news and some bad news. The good news is all players have reported to camp with one exception. The bad news is the exception is a very significant one, rookie quarterback Zach Wilson who still hasn’t agreed to a contract. Saleh did seem to express some optimism that a deal will be done.

As for getting Wilson signed and in camp, Saleh didn’t sound concerned. “I have a lot of faith in Joe (Douglas). Let’s see what happens in the next couple of hours.” pic.twitter.com/sPOIjqUJTV
Asked if he needs to add a QB while Zach Wilson is out, Robert Saleh didn’t sound like he thought Wilson would be out long enough to need one.

Saleh also expressed optimism about some of the players who were placed on injury lists last week.
Robert Saleh says the guys on NFI and PUP are taking a second physical today and feels good about the direction of the players on the lists. That includes Quinnen Williams (PUP) and Marcus Maye (NFI).

The head coach also discussed a surprising position battle.
Robert Saleh says there’s a competition at RT between Morgan Moses and George Fant, who had a good spring.

Added can’t have enough good offensive and defensive linemen.
I think many of us assumed Moses would get the starting job when he signed. Apparently the incumbent, Fant, has a chance to retain the job. Based on track records, I would assume Moses starts, but there is of course nothing wrong with competition. If Fant looks better, there wouldn’t be many objections to him starting.
There is also some good news about second year left tackle Mekhi Becton.
LT Mekhi Becton, who battled plantar fasciitis this spring, is “ready to roll,” Robert Saleh said. “He’s in fantastic shape.”
