Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. With time expiring before the franchise tag deadline, it’s come out that the team and standout safety Marcus Maye have yet to agree to a long term deal. A report has come out that an offer was made by Maye’s side, but that deal has since been taken back. To be fair, none of this should be surprising on either side. On Maye’s side, you can understand that he wants to get paid. He’s getting up in age, and he really only has one chance to ‘cash out’ before he no longer has that opportunity. From Douglas’ point of view, the team shouldn’t pay large sums for him now, on the off-chance he has a down year in play, or an injury. On top of that, safety isn’t necessarily a position of need for the team. Sure, what he can do overall could help, but Douglas has to balance plenty of things, which makes solidifying Maye into a contract now difficult, and unlikely. With that, here are your links to the team to start your morning.
