At the start of the off-season we thought there would be an influx of 49’ers taking their talents to the east coast to join up with Robert Saleh, which never really materialized to the extent we expected.

One former 49’er has made his way over today, as it’s been announced that the Jets have signed former defensive end Ronald Blair III

Blair has had a promising career derailed by serious injuries over the last few years.

A former 5th round selection of the 49’ers in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Appalachian State product recorded 3 sacks his rookie season. He missed a large chunk of 2017 due to injury, only appearing in 6 games.

In 2018, Blair managed to stay healthy and as a result had his most productive season yet. PFF have him recording 31 pressures and 8 sacks on just 338 pass-rushing snaps.

He tore his ACL in 2019 and missed the entirety of 2020 as he made his recovery. When healthy the 6’4, 270lb Blair looked to be a useful pass-rusher, at just 28 years old he’s worth the risk for a team who have good depth at the position.

The Jets also made a move to waive Sharif Finch the team announced on Twitter.
