Sherwood: Transition from Safety to Linebacker not an issue

Jamien Sherwood arrived in New York on Wednesday, and although it's a touch cooler than he'd like, the new Jets linebacker is settling in nicely with his new teammates, and his new head coach.

"He's talked to us, we had our little zoom meetings. He sounds like a great guy. Even out on the field as a head coach he's still giving me tips and pointers on what I can do better"

Sherwood played his college football at safety for Auburn, although he was lined up all over the field. He was drafted with the expectation that he'll play linebacker and he commented that he knew that before the commissioner called his name. He doesn't believe it'll be an issue however:

"One of the strong points from my game is getting in the playbook. That transition from safety to linebacker, it hasn't really been much of an issue... When I do step on the field, it's just like second nature"

Sherwood is an easy player to root for and he seems like the kind of guy that Saleh will absolutely adore with his dedication and football IQ. It's early days and it's only a couple of practises but it's good to see the rookies settling in.

"Walking out on the field in a Jets helmet, and jersey, it just feels so surreal...I'm blessed, and I wouldn't have it any other way"
