Jets Make Roster Moves - Release 6, Sign 12 UDFA

NCAA Football: Memphis at Southern Methodist Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets made a flurry of moves on Friday afternoon, announcing the release of 6 players, the signing of 12 undrafted rookies and the signing of three draft picks.

So first of all lets get to the players that were released to make way for the incoming class:

Kyron Brown - CB

Connor Davis - TE

Leo Koloamatangi - OL

Chase McLaughlin - K

Jaleel Scott - WR

Josh Doctson - WR

Shortly after announcing the players that were released, the Jets announced their 2021 UDFA draft class:

Then following the signing of the 12 UDFA’s the Jets announced that Jamien Sherwood, Jason Pinnock, Brandon Echols and Jonthan Marshall had all signed their rookie contracts.

Needless to say that with rookie minicamp this weekend, Joe Douglas and the Jets are wasting no time in sculpting the roster.

I don’t think any of the releases will come as a surprise. The two most notable names on there are wide receiver Josh Doctson and kicker Chase McLaughlin.

Doctson was a 1st round pick of Washington back in 2016, and he signed with the Jets last off-season before opting out of the 2020 season. McLaughlin only kicked for the Jets in one game but his 78.6% success rate over his short career wasn’t enough for the Jets to keep him around.

The Jets also announced that they had placed Saquan Hampton on the PUP list. Hampton ruptured his Achilles tendon against the Seahawks
