The New York Jets have selected defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall out of Arkansas with the 207th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jonathan Marshall is a 6’ 3”, 320 pound defensive tackle. Marshall played 34 games in four years at Arkansas. He amassed 71 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in his Arkansas career. Despite his size, Marshall does not play with great strength. He can be overpowered at the point of attack. Marshall’s best attribute is a great first step. He combines that with good pad level and leverage to penetrate. Marshall gets upfield quickly and has good lateral quickness for a man his size.
With this selection the Jets add still more to the defense. After beginning the 2021 NFL Draft with four straight picks on offense, the Jets spent the latter half of the draft stocking up on defense.
Barring any trades to acquire more draft picks, with this selection the Jets have concluded their 2021 NFL Draft. Next step: undrafted free agents, who can be signed as soon as the last pick in the seventh round of this draft is made.
