The New York Jets have selected running back Michael Carter out of North Carolina with the 107th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Michael Carter is a 5’ 9”, 200 pound running back. He is a big play waiting to happen. Carter has elite lateral quickness that produces explosive plays at an enormous rate. Carter led the FBS in 20+ yard plays.
Michael Carter played four years at North Carolina and was part of a beastly two headed running back rotation with Javonte Williams. Carter averaged an impressive 8.0 yards per carry last year, thanks largely to the many explosive big play runs he produced. In 2020 Michael Carter ran for 1245 yards on just 156 carries, and added 267 yards on 25 receptions. Carter has plenty of tread left on his tires, with just 514 carries in his four years at North Carolina.
With the addition of Michael Carter to go along with the earlier selection of wide receiver Elijah Moore, the Jets have added an exciting, explosive element to their offense that has long been lacking with the Green and White. This offense is going to be so much more fun to watch in the years to come.
With this selection the Jets now have the following remaining picks in the 2021 NFL Draft:
Fourth Round: Pick #143
Fifth Round: Pick #146 and Pick #154
Sixth Round: Pick #186 and Pick #226
