Good morning, Gang Green Nation! Happy Easter to those of you celebrating the holiday today. For the Jets we have entered a quiet time. The next four weeks it will be all about the NFL draft and possibly the trade of quarterback Sam Darnold. For now there isn’t much to report, as all has been quiet on the Darnold front. We’re left with the umpteenth mock drafts from the usual suspects, along with such riveting fare as the Jets options for backup quarterback.
Speaking of backup quarterback, the Jets’ options there have slowly dwindled as the best of the bunch have been signed to other teams. This leads one to believe either the Jets must believe in James Morgan, or the Jets intend to keep Sam Darnold around rather than trade him. There are other options, of course, but none very appealing. Nate Sudfeld, Matt Barkley or A.J. McCarron anyone? RG III and Blaine Gabbert are also available. Blake Bortles is probably the best option of a less than appealing bunch. Or maybe the Jets go with a familiar face in former 49ers backup Nick Mullens. Given the options, keeping Darnold for another year seems like a direction the Jets might head in, unless they get an appealing trade offer, something that has thus far eluded the Jets.
