New York Jets Flight Connections 4/20/21

Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. The New York Jets are one of only a handful of teams without workout bonuses in their contract, as well as being one of a few teams without voidable years in their contracts. There isn’t much correlation between the teams that do/don’t and their win/loss record, but I thought it was interesting to see how Joe Douglas has been structuring contracts during his time with the Jets. Not having any voidable years on a contract essentially means a team is stuck with some type of cap hit on a player if they’re cut early regardless, but given how frugal Douglas has been with contracts; he’s left plenty of room for error. The Jets aren’t strapped on cash or need to manipulate the cap so there’s really not much of a point to include voidable years into the contracts of their players.
