The Jets have announced the re-signing of veteran tight end Daniel Brown.
Welcome back, @Daniel_Brown10!!
— New York Jets (@nyjets) April 19, 2021
Brown has spent the last two seasons with the Jets. He had only 2 catches for 31 yards in 2020 as the team struggled to find any productivity from the position.
He was a core special teamer, appearing in at least 65% of special teams snaps in every game he played. That might be his path to a roster spot in 2021. The signing of Tyler Kroft means there will be greater competition for returning tight ends to make the team. Assuming Chris Herndon remains on the roster (which admittedly is not a complete lock), Brown might be competing against the remaining tight ends including Trevon Wesco for a spot.
The 28 year old Brown previously spent time with the Ravens and the Bears. He was an undrafted free agent signing by Baltimore in 2015 out of James Madison.
