Good morning, Gang Green Nation! A couple of stories today speculate on whether the Jets should add a tight end in the draft. Many consider a tight end a luxury pick for the Jets. I don’t. The Jets tight end group was perhaps the worst tight end group in the NFL last year, and the addition of oft-injured Tyler Kroft didn’t make any appreciable impact on that. Yes, Chris Herndon has some talent, but he has been an abject disaster outside of his rookie year. Can he rebound and provide quality play at the position? Sure, but it’s not something you can count on. Even if Herndon does rebound, the Jets have basically nothing after Herndon. A couple of dual threat tight ends would do great things for the new offense. If the Jets see a tight end they like in the mid rounds, I would be happy if they pull the trigger.
