Good morning, Gang Green Nation! The 2021 NFL draft will be here soon, and this draft. along with the 2022 draft, are the most consequential drafts for the Jets in a long, long time. After tearing down the team Mike Maccagnan built brick by brick, Joe Douglas has accumulated a boatload of draft capital. The Jets have more draft capital in back to back drafts than they ever have since the draft was reduced to seven rounds. For Joe Douglas, unlike most Jets GMs, building through the draft hasn’t just been a slogan to be ignored in the actual running of the team. Douglas has set himself up to actually build a good team primarily through the draft. Now comes the fun, and difficult, part. Now he must execute by drafting the right guys. The next two drafts will largely determine if Douglas ever reaches a second contract with the Jets, and whether the Jets end their playoff drought any time soon. The time is now. Time to put your construction hat on and start building, Joe.
