The Jets hold the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and all signs suggest they will pick a quarterback. This could mean the end of the road for Sam Darnold, the current quarterback of the future.
Darnold’s three seasons with the team have been a rollercoaster with more downs than ups. A disastrous 2020 season has led the Jets to this point.
On today’s podcast I offer my thoughts on the situation with Darnold. There are numerous considerations that would lead the Jets to picking a new quarterback. I lay some of them out. I also describe why I think some of the rationales for sticking with Darnold have flaws. It isn’t all his fault, but thinking about the future is more important than what happened in the past here.
