The Jets have agreed to terms with Lamarcus Joyner according to Ian Rapoport.
Former #Raiders DB Lamarcus Joyner is expected to sign with the #Jets , sources say. He’ll have the opportunity to play safety – what he wanted – rather than nickel like he did last year in Las Vegas.

And the money: 1-year, $4.5M https://t.co/pv9lNnTyn9

The part about Joyner playing safety is interesting. He has experience playing safety, but the Jets already have Marcus Maye and Ashtyn Davis. Meanwhile starting slot corner Brian Poole is a free agent. Rapoport has some information on Joyner’s potential role.
It’s a 1-year deal for Lamarcus Joyner who will now play the Jimmie Ward role in #Jets coach Robert Saleh’s defense. https://t.co/pv9lNnTyn9

It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out in the secondary for the Jets. Perhaps we will see three safety looks. It isn’t immediately clear how the team will handle the slot in 2021.
Joyner was a second round pick by the Rams in 2014. He moved to the Raiders in free agency in 2019, where he has played the last two season. Joyner played in college at Florida State.
We now await to see what other moves the Jets will make in the secondary. The team has a glaring need at outside cornerback.
