Jets Podcast: Free Agency Approaches

We are about to reach one of the most exciting times on the NFL calendar. Free agency is scheduled to begin next week. For a team like the Jets this is a time of great opportunity. Coming off a 2-14 season with one of the league’s worst rosters, the team projects to have the second most salary cap space entering the offseason.

As we have learned in recent seasons, cap space is no guarantee of future success. There have been numerous points in the last decade where the Jets have been among the league leaders in cap room. They subsequently squandered it will ill-advised signings. That was with different front offices, however. The circumstances were also different. The decrease in the salary cap creates perhaps a once in a decade opportunity for teams like the Jets with money to spend.
