Top Comments:
On the State of the Jets:
To be fair, this is always the absolute best time of year for the Jets fan confidence poll. Though also to be fair, I’m actually confident in the direction of the franchise myself, and I’m a life-long pessimist.

What I am thrilled about:
1 - Gase was immediately fired 2 - Chris Johnson realized he was out of his league and let JD head the HC search 3 - Robert Salah seems good and seems to be respected around the league

On Todd Bowles:
These Todd Bowles articles.
You know, this whole sports journalism thing can be some pretty slimey stuff sometimes. Reporters trying to get Bowles to bash his former team. Editors trying to come up with the most negative Headline “Bowles feels no redemption”. Truth is Bowles siad nothing negative at all about the Jets. He just said, “it made me a better coach” and “there are a lot of great people in that building”. Bowles is a mensch. Fell short as HC, but he is a rock solid guy.

On Rashod Bateman:
Rashod Bateman is this years Justin Jefferson, and if he’s there at #34 Joe Douglas needs to run that pick to the virtual podium. Wouldn’t even be upset if he was the pick at #23
-Sam Darnold
On the Jets Fanbase:
Bucs are in the Super Bowl and their SB Nation blog has like 1-2 comments for each post. We went 2-14 and yesterday there were 500+ messages on a random Thursday. This fanbase is the best. If we ever do go to the Super Bowl we’ll need 5-6 flight connections per day to deal with the volume of messages.

On Zaven Collins:
Pick 23 - I cannot get enough of Zaven collins. He is one of those freak athletes, but he also has tons of production on tape. I’ve been watching his film and he seems like a unicorn. I cannot remember the last time I saw a 260 6’4” edge player this good in coverage while also being great vs the run AND at as a pass rusher off the end. I just keep thinking back to last years draft. All you heard was “the Jets haven’t taken an O-lineman in the first round since mangold and brick”. And boom we take Becton. Well now the refrain needs to be “the Jets haven’t taken a first round edge rusher since gholston”. It’s time. Premium edge rushers almost never free agency. Like QBs and LTs you usually have to draft one. Lotta people calling for a corner at 23 but I take an edge guy all the way if there is a player with value on the board. I’d take Rousseau over Horn. Or maybe even kwitty Paye or azeez ojulari. But my guy is Zaven Collins. He is the perfect fit for an off ball linebacker in Saleh’s 4-3 Hybrid (amirite on that last point Newman?!)

On the Sam Darnold rumors:
Now peter king is on the “Jets will get a first round pick for Darnold” bandwagon and he points to Indy and Chicago bidding for Wentz and the loser getting Sam. Even the most ardent Sam supporter would have to be on board with a trade that nets the 20th or the 21st pick. 2, 20 (or 21), Seattle 1st 2022 and Foley and we have a hard to beat Watson trade Offer and we still have a 1st this year and next year to build around Deshaun.

On the importance of Running Backs in our new offensive scheme:
We’ve talked a lot about the passing game, the need for a new QB and who it might be, and how we need to fix WR, but we’re missing probably the biggest piece of the new Jets offense the RB. The Shanahan offense is a run heavy system. They like passing the ball sure, but it’s the running game that wins them games. That was true for Mike and it’s true for Kyle. That’s going to be brought over to the Jets, especially if the team brings in a young QB, a strong running game is a young QBs best friend after all. Along those lines, the Jets are likely going to aggressively target the position. No this doesn’t mean handing out another Bell-like contract, but picking one at 23 or 34, or spending real money on a starting caliber player, yeah those are real possibilities. Quick side note, expect the Jets to add a real FB this offseason as the Shanahan offense loves a FB. Kyle Juszczyk makes a lot of sense. Back to running backs for a second. The system calls for speed and receiving ability. Some potential fits: Travis Ettiene Kenneth Gainwell Javonte Williams Jet McKinnon Jets are going to make a move here. It’ll be interesting to see what they do.
