Jets quarterback Mike White was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after his stellar performance Sunday against the Bengals.
Making his first career start, White threw for 405 yards and 3 touchdowns. In doing so, he became only the second quarterback in NFL history to eclipse 400 yards in his debut and the first to do so while throwing for 3 touchdowns.
We will find out soon enough how long lasting this success is. The first test will come tomorrow night against Indianapolis on Thursday Night Football.
No matter what happens from this point forward, White will have at least one great memory for his career. He also provided Jets fans with some fun at a point where the fanbase badly needed it. After a 1-5 start and a blowout loss to New England off the bye, things seemed bleak. Sunday’s performance was both unexpected and incredible fun to watch.
