Sunday Night Football, Week 6. At the end of a long day of NFL football, we conclude the night with a meeting of two NFL royalty teams fallen on hard times. Tonight the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Seattle Seahawks.
The 2-3 Steelers come into this game in the unfamiliar position of last place in the AFC North division. Future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looks like he is cooked, and the Steelers offense has had trouble putting points on the board this year. This looks like one of those rare years when the Steelers will not be a serious playoff contender.
Speaking of teams that are usually playoff contenders, the 2-3 Seattle Seahawks have made the playoffs 8 of the last 9 years. It’s going to be an uphill battle to make that 9 out of 10. The Seahawks lost their future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson to injury last week. Old friend Geno Smith takes the reins for the next few games. With a team that has seen its once fearsome defense sink to worst in the NFL, the Seahawks need Geno to provide an unexpected spark if they are to avoid falling out of the race while Wilson heals.
It’s the Seahawks and the Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
Enjoy the game everybody.
