Jets Coaching Candidate Patrick Graham Signs Contract Extension to Stay Giants Defensive Coordinator

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

You can scratch the first name off the list of potential Jets head coaches. On Monday the Jets requested to interview Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for their open head coaching positions. However, Graham has signed a contract extension to remain with the Giants.

Graham has signed an extension to stay with the Giants, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.

The New York Jets had requested an interview with Graham for their vacant head coaching spot, but Graham’s sticking with the Giants and won’t entertain HC jobs, Garafolo added.

It doesn’t sound like Graham specifically had an issue with the Jets. He just doesn’t seem ready to entertain any head coaching positions at this time.

We don’t know how the Jets truly felt about him, but on paper Graham did not seem like a top tier candidate so this is not necessarily a major development. Still, it is relevant news so we report it.
