The Jets will begin a new coaching search in the next few days. As always, an interview process with this team comes with intrigue. Connor Hughes of The Athletic offered some insight on the process.

The article, which is behind a paywall, indicates CEO Christopher Johnson and President Hymie Ehlai will have roles. However, it comes with one telling quote, “It’s Joe’s show.” Hughes reports that Douglas will lead the search and the interviews and make a recommendation.
Rich Cimini has reported something similar.
I think people are reading too much into this. Of course Johnson has to sign off; he’s the owner. That’s how it works in the NFL and in business. From all indications, it will be Douglas’ guy. https://t.co/t0WakVBAXN

If this is indeed how it will play out, it seems like a major step in the right direction for the franchise. It would be the first time in a while the Jets are at least attempting to function the way a competent NFL team would.
Whether this venture will ultimately be successful I cannot say, but Douglas running the search at least seems better than Adam Gase, Mike Maccagnan, Charley Casserly, or Jed Hughes, figures who have led the searches for other major hires in recent years.
