The New York Jets enter the offseason as one of the few teams likely to have financial flexibility. We won’t know the exact NFL salary cap for 2021 for a few weeks, but the Jets will be among the league leaders in cap space. There are also roster cuts they could make to add more room.
Each offseason in the NFL brings cuts. Players are not always cut for talent reasons. Sometimes they are let go just because they do not make financial sense for their team. There might be a cheaper young player ready to take on a bigger role. A player might not fit a new system being installed. Sometimes decent performers just make too much money to fit the roster building strategy. On today’s podcast I discuss some Jets players who could be cut this offseason for cap reasons.
