Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. I’m usually not one to pay much attention to mock drafts, but Mel Kiper Jr’s recent mock needs some explaining.

For an ‘expert’ to mock DeVonta Smith to the Jets with the 2nd overall pick isn’t only absurd, it’s just lazy. There’s nothing wrong with Smith as a player. He won the Heisman and is an elite athlete and college prospect. The problem is that given the players bound to hit free agency, the amount of cap space the Jets have, and the abundance of draft selections, wasting the second overall pick on a WR is just about the last thing that would happen to a team with as many needs as the Jets, including a need at the quarterback position.

Even if you’re suggesting that the team sticks with Sam Darnold, Joe Douglas has reiterated on countless occasions the need to build from the trenches outward, and the Jets still have plenty of holes to fill there. It almost seems that the average fan could do a better job than some of the people in this industry, which we’re already starting to see as new faces start to become staples in the community. With that, here are your links to the Jets this morning.
