The hiring of LaFleur has been expected since the Jets announced they agreed to terms with Robert Saleh to be the team’s next head coach. LaFleur comes to the Jets from San Francisco where he has served as passing game coordinator since 2017. His first two years with the 49ers he doubled as wide receivers coach. He spent prior stints with the Falcons and Browns. He is the brother of Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
On paper this seems like a good fit for both sides. The Jets get a coach viewed as a bright, young offensive mind. LaFleur gets the chance to take control of his own offense after working under Kyle Shanahan.
In addition to LaFleur, the Jets announced the hiring of nine other assistant coaches on the offensive side of the ball.
