I've seen this rumoured for a few days now, but it may be getting a little closer as Miles Austin's former coach at Monmouth congratulated him on his hiring:
It does make sense with Miles Austin having worked for the 49'ers in 2019 as an offensive quality control coach. He's also a Jersey guy having grown up in Summit.
Although Austin was an undrafted receiver in 2006, he carved out a fine career for himself.
He played for the Cowboys, Eagles and Browns over a career that spanned 2006-2015. Finishing with 361 receptions, 5,273 yards and 37 touchdowns. He made the pro bowl in 2009 as he led the NFC in receiving yards, as well as 2010.
Hines Ward worked with the receivers under Gase as an offensive assistant.
Key to note that this is not confirmed, but Cimini hinted at it a few days ago and now this tweet from his college coach. One to watch.
