We've reached an agreement in principle with Robert Saleh to become our head coach.

Saleh was integral in building the 49ers defense that carried the team to the Super Bowl last season. He did a good job keeping the unit competitive this year after suffering numerous injuries to key players.
Over the last few days the buzz suggested that Saleh was the likely frontrunner for the job. He was the first candidate to receive a second round interview. Even though he left without a deal yesterday, the two sides apparently liked the match.
Saleh began his career in the college game. He entered the NFL in 2005 as a defensive intern with the Texans. After a couple of promotions and six years in Houston, he moved to the Seahawks in 2011. He moved to Jacksonville as linebackers coach in 2014 before landing the 49ers defensive coordinator job in 2017.
We will have plenty more in the days ahead.
