The 2021 NFL playoffs continue today with another tripleheader. In the first game the Tennessee Titans host the Baltimore Ravens.
The 11-5 Tennessee Titans come into this game with little momentum. Their offense has been prolific recently, scoring 40 or more points in three of their last six games. But their defense has been porous, allowing 38 or more points in three of their last five games. Star Titans back Derrick Henry has been on fire lately, rushing for an absurd 710 yards in his last four games. That’s more rushing yards in four games than any Jets back had in the entire 2020 season. If Henry goes off, the Titans are very tough to beat.
The 11-5 Baltimore Ravens come into this game red hot, winners of their last five games after losing four of their prior five games. The Ravens, like the Titans, rely on their ground game to win. The Ravens topped the NFL in rushing yards, rushing attempts and rushing yards per attempt this year; the Titans were #2 in all three categories. This one is going to be an old school ground-fest. The Ravens ground game is led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, who rushed for more than 1000 yards for the second year in a row this year. If you can shut down Jackson’s running and make him beat you from the pocket you have a good chance to beat the Ravens. The Titans have given the Ravens fits lately, winning this season in overtime, and upsetting the Ravens last year in the playoffs. No doubt the Ravens will have a little extra incentive today to avenge those losses.
It’s the Titans and the Ravens kicking off a Sunday post-season tripleheader. Enjoy the game everybody.
